My typical client comes to me after being victim of a serious automobile accident, and says to me the following: don’t worry Mr. Grossman, I have full coverage. And then I pause and I say well, I think you probably think you have full coverage, but let me explain to you that you probably don’t, and then I proceed to look at what’s called the Declaration Page. And in your Declaration Page it spells out the various coverages. Now most lawyers that don’t do personal injury law don’t even know what the specifics mean in the Declaration Page, so let me walk through this with you because it can be quite complex. What’s really frightening is that the clients are very shocked when they realize that when they mean full coverage, their coverage is for their car; they’ve got full coverage for their car, so the bank is protected, if the car’s financed, but as far as themselves, their own personal being, they’re wholly under-insured.
