According to Pix11.com, two teenagers were killed and another critically injured Friday night in North Bergen. Noel Herera, 16, and Brian Rodriguez, 17, were killed at the intersection of 26th Street and Kennedy Boulevard, close to Union City High School. The third teenager remains unidentified.
Reports are that late Saturday night a car jumped over a curb, crashing into the three victims. The car struck with such force that it also tore apart a metal fence, destroyed a bench, and knocked over a tree.
Frank Schillari, Hudson County Sheriff, said one person has been arrested. The name of the individual and the charges are being withheld at this time.
The investigation into these deaths and injury is ongoing. We will have more details here when they become available.
Update: Eric Patterson has been charged with two counts of death by auto and one count of assault. A judge has set bail at one million dollars. Also, some media outlets are now writing Brian Rodriguez’s name as Bryan.
