Patch reports that Shannon Seaman, 29, was killed Friday evening on Beach Boulevard in Lacey Township. The accident occurred near the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Palm Beach Drive. Police say she had had been trying to help a dog that had been hit by a car and that was running across lanes.
Seaman, a resident of Lacey Township’s Forked River section, had left the vehicle she was a passenger in to assist the injured dog. She apparently tried to warn oncoming cars by getting into the traffic lanes herself. She was at that time hit by a Ford Explorer, driven by Richard Colinchik, 62, also of Forked River. Colinchik stayed at the accident scene and is reported to be cooperating with authorities.
The accident remains under investigation. We will have more information as it becomes available.
