NJ.com reports that Thomas Kubes, 71, of Manchester’s Whiting section, was killed Thursday afternoon when his Ford Escape was struck head-on by a car that came into his lane of traffic.
Kubes had been traveling on east Route 530 near Lacey Road when Fred Wood Jr., 69, crossed the double yellow center-line with his 2006 Lexus SUV and crashed into him. Kubes was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wood was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center. He is reported to be in stable condition.
